Who knew?

I am taking Evidence this semester and it has been okay so far but we are now knee deep in the rules covering hearsay. I had no f'ing clue that this little word could bring so much confusion. I have seen Law and Order so I know what hearsay is. If a witness says, "Johnny told me he had a gun" it is hearsay. Simple right. Then came FRE 801(d)(1), 801(d)(2), 803, 804, and a bazillion other rules and exceptions that twist your brain so much cerebral goo shoots out your ears and the statement "Johnny told me he had a gun" really isn't hearsay but rather the stone cold truth.

The bright side is that there are only 6 more days until The Game.
