It has gotten out of hand. West Virginia needs to take a deep breath, calm down, and realize their football coach left them for a different job. Whose fault was it? Does it matter? I mean really, here is what happened: Rich Rodriguez did not like the treatment he was getting from the powers-that-be in the West Virginia athletic department and he was offered one of the best coaching jobs in college athletics so he left. This happens all of the time. Roy Williams left Kansas for North Carolina and people were not so cheesed. Sure Williams was leaving a school to go to his alma mater and Rodriguez did the opposite but they were both steps up in their respective sports. WVU fans will argue that it wasn't that Rodriguez left it was the manner in which he left, that is why death threats to his family are justified. That is just brillant. Let's see here, Rodriguez got a job offer, told the school about it, the AD said get the hell out, and he did. Would it really have matter if he spent an hour, two hours, a day and a half with is team explaining what was going on before he left? I doubt it. He addressed the team in a manner he thought was appropriate and moved on. The team has apparrently moved on as well judging from their performance against Oklahoma. I thought that the pettiness would end after the Fiesta Bowl and the hiring of Coach Stewart but people just won't let things go. I shake my finger at you West Virginia. [Shake, shake, shake.]
PS Tomorrow I will try to inject some more humor into my posts. I may even open with some high quality knock-knock jokes.
